IEEE LEOS awards for three Best Student Papers
The OSA Topical Conference on Nanophotonics has been held successfully at Hangzhou during June 18 - 21, 2007. IEEE LEOS has kindly sponsored the awards for the Best Student Papers in connection to the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of IEEE LEOS. The following three Best Student Papers have been selected by the committee:
Jun Qian: "Imaging Pancreatic Cancer Using Surface-functionalized Quantum Dots" (SUNY at Buffalo, USA);
S. Khisa: "Design and Simulation of Mode Size Transformer for SOI Waveguides" (Gwangju Institute of Science &Technology, Korea);
Webin Chen: "Field Enhancement due to Optimal Plasmonic Focusing in a Near-field Scanning Optical Microscope Probe" (University of Dayton, USA).
      Best Student Paper Award
During the Conference Banquet, each of the three students received a cash award of 200 US$ or 150 US$/each besides a nice certificate (signed by conference co-chairs Joseph W. Haus and Sailing He; see the photo) "In connection to the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of IEEE LEOS and in recognition of scientific excellence in presentation and content the conference committee confers this award on (student name) for the paper entitled (paper's title)".
